Policy Statement: CE Credit Recognition for Canadian ART Trainees

Overview
The United States and Canada operate under different continuing education (CE) approval systems. While the U.S. has centralized CE accreditors such as NBCC, ASWB, and APA, Canada does not have a single national CE authority. Continuing education requirements for mental health professionals are determined by provincial regulators and national professional associations.

NBCC Approval and Canadian Recognition
The Rosenzweig Center for Rapid Recovery (RCRR) is approved by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) as an Approved Continuing Education Provider (ACEP No. 7826). All Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) trainings under this designation meet NBCC’s educational and ethical standards.
In Canada, the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) recognizes continuing education activities offered by recognized professional associations and credentialing bodies, including NBCC. Therefore, ART trainings approved by NBCC are accepted for CE credit by the CCPA and are typically recognized by provincial colleges and social work regulators when relevant to clinical practice.

Guidance for Canadian Participants
Canadian ART trainees may submit their ART CE certificates to their provincial or professional regulatory body as proof of continuing education. The following statement appears on all certificates:

This training is approved by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) as an Approved Continuing Education Provider (ACEP No. 7826). Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified.

For Canadian participants: CE credits from NBCC-approved activities are recognized by the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) and may also be accepted by provincial colleges and social work regulators for maintenance of professional registration. Participants are encouraged to confirm acceptance with their regulatory body.

Summary
At this time, no separate Canadian CE provider application or approval is required. NBCC approval provides equivalent professional standing for Canadian participants seeking CE recognition through the CCPA or their provincial college.
