Dr. Matt Worthington, BA (Hons) (Bus), MSc (Psych), DPsych (Clinical), is a registered Clinical Psychologist specialising in the treatment of PTSD and Complex PTSD in adults (18 years and over).
He completed his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at James Cook University, Australia, in 2014 and holds a Masters degree in Psychology from the University of Hertfordshire (UK). He has undertaken trauma training (by distance) with the Boston Trauma Centre during the period when Dr Bessel Van der Kolk was Medical Director. Dr Van der Kolk is the author of “The Body Keeps the Score” a primary text on PTSD.
He has a holistic, trauma-informed approach. He primarily uses – Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) He is an ART Instructor.
Dr. Worthington is also a Trauma Releasing Exercises Practitioner. Additionally, he has completed the Certificate in Psychedelic Assisted Therapy with Mind Medicine Australia.
Amongst other trainings he is also a Wim Hof Method Instructor (Advanced), and completed the Heartmath Resilience Practitioner training.
His approach is holistic and he enjoys learning in his spare time. He is currently studying (by distance) for a masters degree in clinical psychoneuroimmunology – the interplay between the systems within the human body and the symptoms which emerge. He is also writing a book on self-esteem.
He originates from Liverpool, UK and is currently based in Brisbane Queensland, Australia. His biggest achievement to date – hitchhiking across the USA without any money! He lost his money in the first week and carried on regardless.
Dr. Worthington primarily works with individuals with PTSD, including first responders, frontline workers, and military personnel. Workcover.
