Licensed Master Social Worker

I completed my MSW degree from Grand Valley State University in 2001. In 2010, I started working for my local Community Mental Health System as a crisis worker and an Outpatient Therapist, where I specialized in CBT and DBT. In 2022, I began working in Private Practice and was trained as a Master Level ART Therapist in 2023. The experiences I witnessed as and ART therapist made me want to share ART with others. Becoming a trainer was the best way I could help to share this powerful treatment model. One of my first ART clients was someone who successfully changed negative cognitions related to a horrible trauma. She had great improvements using the CPT model. She no longer blamed herself or lived in fear, but she did experience flashbacks and nightmares that continued to affect her. Soon after my Basic ART Training, I asked this client to try ART. After one ART session, she no longer has flashbacks or nightmares. The night after the first session, she slept better than she had in 15 years. The health improvements she experienced from being able to sleep were significant. I continued to see amazing results from ART and knew I had to be a part of sharing this with my community. I wish I had this skill back as a crisis worker. I can think of so many times ART would have significantly changed outcomes. I am very excited to be able to share this treatment modality!
